The Bistro in Maspalomas offers a cozy, approachable cafe experience just off the main tourist tracks. It’s the kind of spot where locals and visitors alike come for a relaxed weekend breakfast or a casual mid-morning pause fueled by quality coffee and thoughtfully prepared plates.

The atmosphere feels lively but unhurried, often busy enough to create a warm buzz without rushing guests. Early mornings, especially around 10am on weekends, seem to be prime times when everyone settles in to enjoy hearty breakfasts or a vibrant brunch catch-up. The mix of travelers and island residents gives it a balanced vibe—not overly touristy, yet comfortably welcoming to newcomers.

The menu leans into classic breakfast and brunch staples, executed with attention to detail: from a full English breakfast and Eggs Florentine to rich American pancakes with compote. The eggs—whether scrambled or Benedict-style with salmon—come highly recommended for their freshness and careful preparation. Those who usually shy away from chicken burgers might reconsider here, as this cafe’s version reportedly avoids the dryness common elsewhere, balanced with crisp salad and just enough mayo.

Coffee and drinks hold their own importance at The Bistro. Expect solid cappuccinos, lattes, and smoothies—always presented well and enjoyed alongside generous portions of food. The presence of high tea options and specialty cakes like pistachio with pear adds a touch of afternoon charm, making it a relaxed choice for a caffeine fix or a sweet treat any time of day.

Staff interactions stand out as a genuine highlight. Frequent visitors mention warm, attentive service that adds to the welcoming atmosphere without feeling overwrought. This easy rapport makes The Bistro especially suited to those looking for a place to linger, whether it’s a regular weekend rendezvous or a friendly spot recommended by locals aiming to share quality food away from the typical tourist beats.

All told, The Bistro is best for anyone after solid breakfast or brunch options paired with a friendly, unpretentious setting. It suits small groups, couples, or solo visitors who enjoy their meal at a casual pace, surrounded by a softly buzzing crowd. Sitting down around mid-morning on a weekend or late morning during the week should offer the best balance of atmosphere and availability, capturing the relaxed, community-driven heart of Maspalomas’ café scene.

A lovely little restaurant. I chose The Bistro because of the very good reviews. Unfortunately they didn’t have what I wanted but what I then chose was very nice. A chicken burger, fries and coleslaw. I rarely order chicken burgers as I find them to be dry but this one wasn’t. It was very flavourful, had plenty of salad and just the right amount of mayonnaise. The service was excellent, Mark was very attentive, he offered other suggestions of what to choose on the menu and later he found time to stop and have a nice conversation with me. A very nice spot with reasonably priced great food and excellent service. It’s a little difficult to see the sign as it’s set back from the road but it’s directly in between Sa Wad Dee and El Saloon.

We went to The Bistro as a group of four — two couples — after it was picked by our Londoner friends on a mission to find real, quality food on the island. And honestly? For us locals living in Gran Canaria, it turned out to be a beautiful surprise. Tucked slightly off the main tourist paths, this place might not catch your eye immediately — but the reviews speak volumes. And now we can confirm: they’re absolutely right. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for during a chill meal out — dim lighting, soft sea breeze, cozy-chic decor, and just the right level of background buzz. The staff is incredibly warm, and the owner is the kind of host who makes you feel like you're in his home, not just his restaurant. We didn’t mind the short wait — food this good clearly gets made with care. And it showed. Let’s talk about that food. Two of us went for the brunch tower — that gorgeous mix of sweet and savory you’ll probably see in the photos. It’s as good as it looks (maybe better). We also had the savory pancakes with crispy, real bacon — rich, flavorful, perfectly done. The smashed burger was massive and satisfying, and even the fries deserve a mention: golden, crunchy, addictive. We ended up lingering well past closing time, completely caught up in conversation and good vibes. The owner didn’t say a word — just let us enjoy. Naturally, we left a generous tip out of pure gratitude. This place is a must if you want to escape the usual Playa del Inglés tourist chaos and treat yourself to a laid-back, quality experience with real food and genuine hospitality. We’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu. Recommended for: Brunch lovers (those towers are no joke), foodies seeking hidden gems with soul, anyone tired of overpriced, underwhelming tourist traps, people who appreciate small gestures and slow, beautiful meals

Arrived at 10am on a Saturday morning and we were first in the queue. Had 3 veggie and 1 English breakfast. Delicious and good quality food. Had lovely smoothies . Very busy which makes a great atmosphere and we were in no hurry. A gem

Such a beautiful place for brunch! Both the service and food are consistently incredible. Mark is an absolute delight and so lovely to interact with, would go back just to see him!! But the food was also amazing!!! The scrambled eggs are beautiful and everything was tasty. The coffees/smoothies are also fab. We went 3 times in a week and every time everything was cooked and presented perfectly. Would highly recommend to anyone in/visiting the area.

Great place! Great staff (thank you Marco for your awesome hospitality) and last but not least, the food is awesome. I recommend to have Egg Benedict with Salmon! The croissants were also very fresh and warm. Loved it! 5 stars from me. NOTE: I forgot to take the photo of the egg Benedict but as far as I can see here in the reviews, there is plenty of them

The Bistro – 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came in on a Saturday morning and there was a stream of people waiting at the door. Despite how busy they clearly were, the service was nothing short of impeccable. Our server was attentive, warm, and somehow made us feel like we were the only table in the room. Drinks arrived quickly, orders were spot-on. The food? Flawless. Everything came out hot, seasoned to perfection and delicious. In an era where “busy” often becomes an excuse for mediocre service, The Bistro somehow rises above it all and delivers an outstanding experience from start to finish. My only regret, is I didn’t take a photo of my food … which I’ll add to this review tomorrow! Highly, highly recommend. I’ll be back tomorrow, in fact for the rest of my stay – and I suggest you book ahead, because this place deserves to stay this busy!
